Last Minute Additions

As much as blogs talk about budgets, the one that that I haven't seen covered it Last Minute Additions.

Usually, I get an email from the Bride a few weeks before her wedding.  She has decided that she HAS TO HAVE xyz at her wedding.  Since time is running out, the Bride requests some vendor recommendations.

Not part of the original wedding plans, I have seen couples add various things to their wedding day.

Here are some examples:
  • late night snacks
  • limo transportation for the entire bridal party
  • extending the bar
  • candy buffet
  • photobooth
It is important to remember: if you are going to add something at the last minute, don't stress yourself out.

Real Weddings: Crystal + Greg: The Details

Crystal and Greg were married at the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church. Their reception was held at the Morton Arboretum. The couple had many gorgeous details that I would like to share.

All photos are taken by Glen from
Glenabog.

Crystal opted to have three types of centerpieces. This is my favorite!

The second of their three types of centerpieces.
The light colors contrasted nicely with the lush linens.

The cocktail hour was set up in the foyer that connected the outdoor space and the ballroom. Crystal saw and loved this escort card idea on my blog post of Jacey + Dan.

In lieu of a guestbook, the couple had guest sign a matted photo of the couple from their engagement photos.

There were plenty of American and Korean treats for the guests to feast on all evening.

Real Weddings: Crystal + Greg

With just a few weeks from her wedding date, Crystal hired me so that she could be relaxed on her wedding day. Over tea at a cute coffee shop in River North, we discussed her vision for the day. She felt that she still had a few loose ends and wanted to make sure her day was flawless.

The guys arrived at the church about 30 minutes before the ladies. They took photos infront of the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church.

Crystal and her Father. He was one the nicest and calmest Dad's I've ever seen!

The couple took some gorgeous photos after the ceremony but before the Korean ceremony.

The couple links arms before drinking their tea.

The Morton Arboretum was breath taking. Crystal and Greg opted to take most of their photos there. I couldn't argue with them!

Crystal and Greg being during Bridal Party Introductions. The ballroom has one wall that is floor to window ceilings with views of the gorgeous grounds.

The couple takes a turn on the dance floor during their 1st dance.
The spectacular views are in the background.

Photos of the wedding details will be coming tomorrow!

Registry: Bed, Bath, and Beyond

We registered at three stores: Crate and BarrelBloomingdales, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond.   Below is our experience at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  Here is a link to our experience at Crate and Barrel and at Bloomingdale's.

Did I mention that I am not really into home stuff?  I'm not.  By the time it was to register at our third store, I was jaded.  There were no registering events so we went to the Lincoln Park store on a Sunday afternoon.  The sales staff really didn't seem that interested in helping us.  They gave us a gun and a "checklist" of items we might need.

After about 10 minutes in the Kitchen Department, I begged for mercy.  My dear husband turned in the gun and registered online.   (It was all for him anyway.  I never cook.)  Thankfully, BBB has a wonderful online registry program.

I would suggest that everyone registers at BBB. Why?  They have the most comprehensive selection of merchandise.  While not everyone may have a BBB near them, all of the items could be purchased online.  Additionally, BBB honors their 20% coupons on everything including china.
