Martha + Julio, the reception

Yesterday, I did the first blog post about Martha and Julio. And let me tell you, the had what was one of my favorite weddings last year!

The festivities continued at Catalyst Ranch.

Upon entering the venue, the couple had a picture for their engagement picture to greet guests.

Since both M + J are in the education profession, they used students to perform for the cocktail hour and dinner.

The escort cards were a DIY project by the Bride.

Instead of traditional and formal escort cards, guests received a card that was modeled after LoterĂa.

No detail was forgotten. Surrounding the cardbox were the couples initials.

Catalyst Ranch has a room that is perfect as a bridal suite.

Perfect for the funky vibe of the venue, each table was a little bit different.

A few of the room where the reception was held.

A DIY Goddess, Martha heat embossed the menus with a skull to keep with the Day of the Dead accents.

I love that the look of the wedding was bright and colorful!

Each of the tables had an enlarged LoterĂa card as the Table “Number”.

Rather than hide the table number sign, Martha used it as part of her centerpiece.

The couple cut one of the many layers of the delicious tres leche cake.

The couple took the floor for the first dance.

Jeremy does the best ring shots.

The wedding turns into a party!

Love it!!

I love the sweetness of this song.

The bride made fabulous DIY favors.

Martha could give Martha S a run for her money!

The couple had cookies for guests to take home!

Happily.

Martha + Julio

I met Martha and Julio over a year before their wedding day. They were so deeply involved the planning of their event, I was really excited to work with the two of them. And when they told me the inspiration of their wedding (vintage, day of the day), I knew that it would going to be a gorgeous wedding. It was fantastic!! In fact, a certain local bridal magazine is going to feature their wedding. Sadly, our name won't be associated with the wedding because we are "just day of coordinators".

But on to the couple! Martha and Julio are both educators. They are, by far, the most considerate couple. I mean, I think that they asked me how I was doing on the day of their wedding almost a dozen times. I was so happy to meet them. They are a wonderful couple!

I adored Martha's shoes. Red + bows = fabulousness

The bride is the limo on the way to the church. Her styling was spot on. I love the birdcage veil with the beautiful dress.

The groom patiently waits for the bride at the church.

Since there wasn't A/C in the church, the couple provided fans for guests.

The bride walks down the aisle with her parents. Do you see that DRESS? I LOVE IT!!!

I love it when a photographer catches the couple sneaking looks at each other while at the alter.

The silhouette of the dress is absolutely perfect fit.

Jeremy is the type of photographer that catches all of those fantastic details!

The newlyweds head out to the hot August sun!

It's one of those perfect shots that makes me smile.

After the ceremony, the couple went around the city to take some photos with the bridal party and family.

I love the shades of brown with the bright accents.

I am so jealous that Martha has this great bridal party shot. It is one of the few shots that we didn't get.

Pure genius! I hope that this is hanging in their living room.

The couple took some really modern shots. I adore that they didn't stick with formula poses.

Once the bridal party left, the couple took taxis around the city.

It is so refreshing to see a photo that didn't include Lake Michigan!

Isn't this photo so adorable?

More fantastic photos are coming tomorrow!

In the wedding industry, there is the unbelievable...

...and the bizarre. Like a gown made out of a cake. It's art, I suppose. The amount of frosting is exciting. I love frosting. To see more pictures, go here.

Kristen + Phillip, the celebration continues...

I forgot one tidbit of news yesterday. Kristen is a fabulous seamstress. When I asked her on she heard of me, she said that she used to work for The Dress Doctor! In fact, she worked on my dress, which you can see here. Isn't it fun when you find connections like that?

Kristen is an artist and her bouquet was a true work of art. Whimsical and wild, I adored her bouquet.

The bride wasn't very matchy-matchy, so the girls all wore their own black cocktail dresses.

The 63rd Street Beach House allows for some lovely photos on the premises as well as on the beach.

During the first hour of cocktails, Kristen + Phillip took photos everywhere. Their one bit of traditionalism was that they opted not to see each other before the ceremony.

Kristen + Phillip were all smiles on the day and full of laughs.

During the second hour of cocktails, guests gathered round for toasts.

After the Father of the Bride toasted the couple, he shook Phillip's hand.

In lieu of a cake, the couple had a bite of the first cupcake. It was very cute!

Towards the end of the night, the guests got down. It was that kind of wedding!

I loved that everyone let their hair down, literally! The last song was Paper Planes by M.I.A., which is one of my favorite songs of all time!

As the night ended, the guests did an impromptu send-off for the newlyweds!

Congratulations!! The couple decided to relocate to Arizona.
I hope that the both of you are doing well and enjoying the warm weather!
