Beata + Josh: The Details

Yesterday, I posted about Beata and Josh's wedding. Here are some of the details from their celebration.

All photos by Gerber & Scarpelli.

The bride's heels had just enough sparkle yet did not compete with her intricate gown.

Beata's bouquet included succulents, green hypernicum berries, ivory lisianthus and seeded eucalyptus berries.

Their rings were engraved with each other's names.

The beautiful lace on the train of her dress.

Beata opted not to wear a veil and instead pinned beautiful orchids in her hair.

The leaf pattern was featured on all their paper items.

It's usually best to work with your surroundings.
The brown and green color scheme perfectly complemented the space.

Beata is a Sox fan, while Josh is a Cubs fan. Their save the date featured a photo of the couple wearing their respective teams' shirts. The same playful sentiment carried over into their favors, Cubs and Sox M&Ms.

The Ketubah featured an amazing photo from their engagement session.

The couple offered an extensive sweet table in lieu of wedding cake.
I admit chocolate covered strawberries are my own personal weakness.

The twinkling lights coupled with the moonlight make the space look magical.

All guests were invited outside to a private balcony for the fireworks.
What a fantastic view, especially for out of town guests.

Congratulations again, Beata and Josh!

Beata + Josh

Beata and Josh's wedding had an international flair. Their ceremony and reception incorporated their respective traditions, and included the hora and Sto Lat, a traditional Polish toast sung by guests. The one unexpected element? The flamenco music they selected for their ceremony!

Caterer: Phil Stefani Signature Events
Ceremony + Reception Location: Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier
Photographer: Gerber & Scarpelli
Videographer: Orange Video Production
Ceremony Music: TransAcoustic Productions

Cocktail Music: Lesniki
Reception Music: Gentleman of Leisure
Florist: Fleur
Chairs + Linens: Elegant Presentations
Hair: Beauty on Call
Makeup: Faces by Tracy

Their Chihuahua, Tiger, was at the hotel as Beata got ready. He dressed up for the occasion!

Josh sat in front of a mirror as he waited to see his bride for the first time.

The couple booked a suite at the W Hotel Lakeshore. We had a fabulous view of Navy Pier from the room. It's exciting to be able to see your venue from the hotel!

Posing with their bridal party on one of the city's bridges.

Practicing for their first dance later.

Heading up the ceremony site at Navy Pier. Tourists love spotting a bride and groom!

The ceremony took place in the Crystal Gardens, amid the lush foliage.

Mazel Tov!

Couples sometimes hire coordinators to help with very specific items on the wedding day that are important to them. I was tasked with purchasing Ferris Wheel tickets for Beata and Josh the morning of the wedding, and working with the security staff to make sure they could skip the line.

They were able to steal a private moment up in the sky.

A sign of a fun reception? When the bride and groom hop up on stage and join the band!

This warm and welcoming wedding had a fabulous send off: fireworks!

Look for details tomorrow.

Google gets into the wedding planning business

I love Google. I use many of their services to run my business. That said, I am a wee bit bored by their latest templates, "Simple Wedding Planning by Google Docs". I've seen the same information at least a half dozen times and none of them are complete. Oh well, I guess that means job security for me. That said, I think that Google Docs is a great tool for everyone!

Honey Bee Baby

I keep in touch with most of my couple's with some regularity. Sometimes, I run into them at brunch while others email with me. It is always nice to hear about their lives together as a couple and as a family. I was absolutely delighted when Liz and Calvin announced that they were expecting. Many months later, Liz sent me a picture of her adorable son.

Maxwell is, as far I know, the first Honey Bee Baby!

Is he not perfect???

Congratulations Liz + Calvin!

Stephanie + Andy, the reception

Yesterday, I posted about Stephanie and Andy's ceremony. Today, I'm posting all about the reception.

All photos by Paul Yamashiro.

For the escort card, the bride chose some flowers emerged in water with floating candles on top.

A DIY Queen, Stephanie made all of the escort cards. I loved the flowers attached to the corner of each card.

Guests enjoyed the cocktail hour on the balcony.

The couple made their guestbook with photos from their life together.

The ballroom looked stunning, as always.

The room is all set before the guests arrive.

Stephanie DIY her menus using a similar paper to the programs.

A view of the room from one of the tables.

An aerial shot of a table.
The couple's Sweetheart Table was so cute!

I love all of the details.

The bride looks down and waves to guests that are arriving.

The Cake Girls made a stunning modern fondant cake.

I have to admit that although the wedding cake was beautiful, it was the groom's cake that stole the show.
The groom trades corn, so it was the PERFECT cake and a huge hit.

Dancing all night! The guests filled the classic black and white dance floor.

Everyone remained energized by the late night snacks!

Guests took home a bag of Garrett's Popcorn as their favor!

Congratulations Stephanie + Andrew!! I had so much fun working with the both of you!

Stephanie + Andy

Stephanie was an organized bride. It's such a relief when you have a bride that fills out your spreadsheets and sends you lists of things to be done. As her Day of Coordinator, I appreciated it immensely. And she was very lucky, she had a perfect wedding day. It helped that all of her vendors were top notch.

All photos by Paul Yamashiro.

Isn't she adorable? I kept wanting to pick her and her little brother up the entire day. I love babies.

The gentleman walked over from the Westin to the church.

The bride and her maids followed once the groom was out of sight.
The girls, of course, got a lot more attention than the guys!

Stephanie made the best looking DIY programs to date.
She found this gorgeous thick paper as the cover and then used ribbons to tie them together.

The bride walks with her father to the church.

The church is gorgeous.

The bride had a cord and veil ceremony to celebrate her Filipino heritage.

After the ceremony, the girls stood by while the bride and groom took photos.

Forth Presbyterian allows for some gorgeous photos.

The couple took some lovely photos together.

This one is my favorite!

The newlyweds radiate happiness.

I'll be back tomorrow to post photos of their reception.
