The Royal Invitation

The Royal invitation has finally gone public! I love the classic look of an engraved invitation with gilded edges. However, I'm surprised at the lack of formality in the date and time.

But I love that a reply card isn't included. Guests must RSVP on their own stationary. Did you know that was the tradition many years ago?

What do you think?

Blogging Honey Bee

Laura is one of the fabulous coordinator's at Honey Bee Weddings. We introduced her and Steve here and here. Laura has a blog called Growing Kooky Together. Check out her adventures in travel, cooking, and shoe shopping.

Susan + Conrad: Part Two

My last post shared Susan and Conrad's ceremony. Now I'm excited to share their fun pictures around the city and their reception at Zed 451!

All photos by Maggie Rife Photography.

With how rainy the day started out, we were all happily surprised to see how sunny the rest of the day was!

The couple and their wedding party stopped by the Bean for a fun shot...I love that the bridesmaids chose dresses that fit their personalities and style!

I love this shot of Susan and Conrad - so pretty!

Roscoe Blooms featured sunflowers in the centerpieces so beautifully!

Susan and Conrad opted for a sweetheart table that was conveniently located right in front of a fireplace - perfect for a crisp fall evening!

Susan and Conrad hosted 50 guests, and the private room at Zed 451 was perfect for their guests.

And, of course, the best part was the food! Servers come around with every type of meat you could possibly want - the guests were happily full by the end of the evening.

Susan's dad gave a heartfelt toast.

I love this sweet shot!

Susan's mom spent hours putting together a slide show for Susan and Conrad. After working through some technology roadblocks, we were able to share it with the guests.

Susan and Conrad opted for a simple, elegant (and tasty!) cake from Tipsy Cake.

My favorite part of the reception is always when the couple cuts the cake - it's the first thing they do together as a married couple!

Susan and Conrad shared their first dance...

...and then their guests joined them on the dance floor!

Congratulations, Susan and Conrad! I had so much fun working with you both - thank you for letting me be a part of your day!

Susan + Conrad: Part One

I was so excited to work with Susan and Conrad for their October wedding! Susan was so cool, calm and collected throughout the wedding planning process, she was a dream to work with as we ironed out all of the details of the big day. I didn't meet Conrad until the wedding rehearsal, but I was excited to find that he was just as relaxed and easy going as Susan!

Cake: Tipsy Cake
Reception: Zed 451
Ceremony: First United Methodist Church Chicago Temple
Florist: Roscoe Blooms
Hair: Marianne Strokirk Salon
Makeup: Rachel Perrin, Beauty on Call
Photographer: Maggie Rife Photography
Transportation: Accent on Excellence
All photos by Maggie Rife Photography.

I loved Susan's bright blue shoes! They were a great pop of color.

The wedding flowers featured sunflowers and were so fun and bright, especially on a day that started rainy and cold.

The bridesmaids showed off these great peacock feathers in their hair.

Susan was in great hands with Rachel from Beauty on Call.

Rachel even pulled double duty and fixed Susan's hair that had been blown about after leaving the salon!

Susan is from Tennessee, and there was no shortage of football in the suite as everyone got ready!

Susan's bridesmaids helped her get into her dress...

...and the finishing touches before it was time to go.

Before we could leave, though, Susan packed her overnight bag. She and Conrad were staying at the Conrad Hotel on their wedding night!

The sky decided to open up and downpour just as we left for the ceremony, but Susan was completely calm in the limo.

I normally don't make it into pictures, but Maggie caught this great shot of me help Susan out of the limo - I did my very best to keep Susan from getting a drop of rain on her!

The Chicago Temple was so beautiful, Susan and Conrad didn't need to add a thing for their ceremony - the sanctuary was perfect.

Finally, it was time to get Conrad and start the ceremony!

I love seeing all of the sunflowers in this shot!

Time to exchange rings...

...have their first kiss...

...and officially be husband and wife!

Up next I'll share Susan and Conrad's pictures around the city and their reception at Zed 451.

Francesca's Baby Announcements

I love paper so baby announcements were on my must-do list! After seeing all of the great photos that Laurie Peacock took, we decided that we had to use as many as possible on the baby announcement. (It's funny how things change; before these photos, I had planned to do letterpress announcements via a friend.)

Francesca's New Born Photos

We had the fabulous Laurie Peacock take newborn photos of Francesca Elise. These are the photos that we used for the birth announcements. Laurie blogged about taking Francesca's photos. Click here to read her blog post.

Laurie is primarily a wedding photographer. I was her wedding planner so it was only fitting that she was the first person to shoot Francesca.

I'll post a copy of her baby announcements tomorrow.

Magazines, how I love thee.

I am addicted to magazines. I read them in bed, on trains and buses, when I'm waiting in line or waiting at the doctor's. I read them between client appointments too. Currently, I subscribe to:

(18) CS Brides
(19) CS

So it only makes sense that Online Magazines are my latest addiction. I have been reading Lonny for ever. My latest reads are Matchbook, Adore and Highgloss. Below are some of my inspirations!
  • Loving this entire spread. I own that Kate Spade vase and while that isn't my exact sofa, the color is a perfect match. Oh, and I've had those Jonathan Adler stools on my Wish List forever.
  • Was pleased to see that I'm not the only person that still uses Juicy Tubes but was then horrified to see Chelsea Handler's choice in body lotions. Ugh! Maybe I should give up Juicy Tube collection?
  • Agreed with about most of this article regarding investment pieces. Most recently, I purchased a Burberry trench (#1) and feel validated by my decision. But #2 and #8 do nothing for me. Loved it but...
  • But if you really want the ultimate shopping list, turn to page 38 of Matchbook. I actually printed the checkoff list and am the proud owner of 29 items. I never considered myself a classic kind of girl but this list just speaks to me.
Hopefully, you can enjoy some of these online magazines for some inspiration.

This woman is a genius.

Breastfeeding, at least in the beginning, is a two handed activity. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time sitting on my chaise watching TV. I quickly became addicted to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In one of the episodes, Adrienne Maloof is getting ready to leave. On her way out of her bedroom, in her amazing closer, she has her wedding dress framed.

This woman is a genius.

I can't find a photo or clip but is that not the most fabulous idea ever??? If you want to see her home, click here to watch a short video.

Now I realize that more and more brides are selling their dresses. To each their own. Personally, I am in love with my dress. And if I had 19,000 square feet, I would most definitely frame my dress as well (Imitation is the highest form of flattery, no?). Instead, it hangs in my downstairs closet, waiting for a better day.

Confession Time.

So I haven't been blogging regularly. And I need to come clean.

I am addicted to blogs.

There, I said it.

But it is not really an addiction. I am OVERWHELMED with blogs. Like, I have ADHD via my Google Reader ("Reader"). It started with weddings. I mean, of course, I read tons of wedding blogs which link to other wedding blogs so my reader was growing and growing. It was under control.

Until I got pregnant.

And then I started reading baby blogs and nursery decor blogs. These blogs were linked to other baby blogs so my Reader grew and grew. It was not under control but hey, I was pregnant.

And then I bought a new home.

And even though I couldn't ever clean out my reader, I added home decor blogs. Since my readers are very cleaver, you can figure out what happened. These blogs were linked to other home decor blogs so my Reader is overwhelmed.

I have over 5000+ unread posts. And for some reason, I can't click "Mark as Read". No... they sit there and taunt me. Read me! Read me!

But I cannot. It would be a full-time job for me to read them all. So I am going to take some time to remove blogs. And, I hope to start blogging on a regular basis.

PS. Even though I am not blogging regularly, Honey Bee Weddings is still up and running!
