Lisa + Steve's Peninsula Wedding

Yesterday's blog post featured the first part of Lisa and Steve's Peninsula wedding. Here are the photos from the rest of the day.

All photos by Allure Photography.

The room looked absolutely lovely!

The couple took photos around their favorite locations in NYC as table numbers.

These may be my favorite favors to date: Christmas Crackers!

The sweetheart table was absolutely gorgeous! I love a low arrangement for the table.

Cute signs made by a friend of the bride.

Tulips are growing around the base of the wedding cake.

The couple brought in an engraved cake knife.

Crowns from the Christmas Crackers!

Lisa brought a ton of fun props for the photo booth.

Lisa loves rainbow cones so she had them as her late night snack. Brilliant!

Congratulations Lisa + Steve!

Lisa + Steve's Peninsula Wedding

I met Lisa over coffee months before the wedding because she was in town from New York City. As we talked, I was totally loving every word that came out of her mouth.
... custom gown by local designed, Alice Padrul
...maize and coral color scheme
...rainbow cones?! cracker

All of Lisa's ideas made for a deliciously detailed wedding. I had the best time working with her and her family. Everyone was so sweet on the day of the wedding. Below are the photos from the morning until the cocktail hour.

Lisa and Steve's gorgeous letterpress invitation

Is there ever a better dress photo than one that includes the Mother of the Bride?

Lisa with her bridesmaids.

With this ring...

Isn't the Alice Padrul gown just breathtaking?

I adored the over the top arrangement for the escort card table.

The cocktail hour in full swing!

Visually stunning hor d'oeuvres on the terrace.
Lisa's wish came true, the rain stopped in time for guests to enjoy the outdoor space.

I will post photos about the reception tomorrow!

Lunch of a Lifetime

With less than 4 months to go until our wedding, I can honestly say I have enjoyed everything about being engaged. At times there have been difficult decisions and stressful conversations but that is a given with wedding planning! I have yet to have my bridal showers or bachelorette party, so besides engagement pictures and registering, Kyle and I haven't had many other events as an engaged couple...until last week.

We had one of the best experiences, not just of our engagement, but of our relationship! We were given the opportunity to have lunch with Chef Tony Mantuano and his wife Cathy Mantuano at Cafe Spiaggia. Our wedding package Spiaggia offers complimentary consultations regarding registering, wine, entertaining, and lunch with the Mantuano's. Choosing the lunch option was a no-brainer for us!

In short, the lunch was incredibly delicious (as well as a great preview for what our wedding will be like) and filled with fun conversations. We were greeted with a celebratory glass of prosecco and started the meal with multiple passed appetizers, which were served like hors d'oeuvres. My favorite was the sardine served on a fennel bread with pesto. Then, we were served a delicious goat cheese, arugula pizza. Again, yum! Finally, we had two different pasta's and my favorite dish of the meal which was a gnocchi with wild boar.

Kyle and I were in food heaven. After about an hour of eating and talking about traveling, wine, cooking, our wedding, Tony and Cathy had to leave. On their way out sent us a few desserts.

Below are pictures of some of the items that we ate.

The delicious sardine appetizer

This was beef carpaccio, another appetizer.
I had no idea it was raw beef. I may not have eaten it if I knew before hand :)

Yummy, pizza!

After this we are very much looking forward to our tasting and finalizing our menu. I'd be happy if our wedding dinner is half as good as this lunch.

Lisa + Chris: Part 2

In my last post, I shared the beginning of Lisa and Chris's day, including getting ready and the ceremony. I'm so excited to share the rest of the day!
All photos by Maggie Rife Photography.
On top of being absolutely gorgeous, the Madonna della Stada Chapel on Loyola's Roger's Park campus is right on Lake Michigan. Which of course means that immediately after the ceremony Lisa, Chris and their wedding party were able to take some gorgeous pictures!

While the ceremony was taking place, I was at the reception site making sure every last detail was perfect. Because guests just had a short walk after the ceremony from the chapel to Loyola's Crown Center for the reception, I only had an hour to get everything set!

One of Lisa's wonderful bridesmaids wrote out all of the escort cards. She has lovely handwriting!

Lisa and Chris used vintage playing cards as their table numbers, and Tina and Dollie provided the beautiful centerpieces.

Because Lisa and a few other guests have a gluten-free diet, Lisa's aunt made the cutting cake. It was adorable!
To add a special detail to the reception, Lisa and Chris convinced Kate and Rachel from Toast & Jam to bring their collection of vinyls to play during reception!

As guests made their way from the ceremony to the cocktail hour, they were able to enjoy the patio at the Crown Center. Fortunately it was a gorgeous day!
After dinner, Lisa and Chris shared their first dance and dances with each of their parents.

And then it was time to cut the cake!

This could have gone one of two ways...

But fortunately it didn't get too messy!

I have a lot of couples who choose not to do a bouquet and garter toss, so I was excited that Lisa and Chris chose to do so and that they had so much fun with it!

As the sun went down the glow in the room was gorgeous, especially with all of the tea lights lining the windows.

It was finally time for everyone to dance!

Congratulations, Lisa and Chris! I had so much fun being a part of your wedding day!

Lisa + Chris: A Loyola University Wedding

At our first meeting, Lisa was super sweet and very laid back as she shared her wedding plans. She told me that she was going to wear her grandmother's wedding dress and that there would be a vintage feel to the day. I was so excited to work with her and her soon-to-be husband Chris!
Ceremony: Madonna della Strada Chapel, Loyola University
Caterer: Aramark
DJ: Kate + Rachel from Toast &; Jam
Florist: Tina and Dollie, LTD
Hair + Makeup: Morgan Blaul

Reception: Crown Center, Loyola University

Transportation: West Suburban Limo

Lisa got ready at her and Chris's house, which was such a fun, personal start to the day. Chris even made an appearance or two as we finished a few projects (including the frantic printing and folding of ceremony programs!).
It was so special seeing pictures of Lisa's grandmother wearing "the" dress...
...and then seeing it waiting for Lisa to wear! She'd had it beautifully restored for the day.
Brides should always brush their teeth before getting dressed! Lisa also learned the hard way the onions on your sandwich are not a good decision on your wedding day.
The fabulous Morgan Blaul put the final touches on Lisa's makeup...
...and her gorgeous hair!
All of Lisa's awesome friends and family came together for the little getting ready details.
They buttoned all of the teeny, tiny buttons.
They helped with the jewelry.
The veil was steamed.
One dutiful bridesmaid even ironed an extra shirt for Chris to wear!
The finishing touch? The veil, of course!
Lisa was the perfect picture of a bride as she left the house. It was time to get married!

Madonna della Strada Chapel on Loyola's Campus is simply gorgeous! Lisa and her father shared a special moment right before the ceremony. Then, it was time for their walk down the aisle.
Lisa's three flower girls did such a fabulous job with the processional!
Lisa and Chris opted to do a full mass. It's so fun how Lisa snuck a look at her wedding guests during the ceremony.
Lisa and Chris are officially husband and wife!

Next up I'll share Lisa and Chris's wedding party photos and reception, including the fun little details of the day!
